Team Courage is our way of getting the word out about our Courage Fund while also showing that you can have any type of adventure in your life, no matter what you’ve gone thru, and no matter your age. And that quest for adventure and spirit is the backbone of Courage Is My Strength, because it takes just as much courage to chase your dreams as it does to face your fears.

Off road racing has been close to my heart for many years, I love watching these types of races on tv. But October 2009 everything changed as I actually had the opportunity to run a version of the Baja 1000 with a group of close friends, led by Larry Roeseler who is an amazing legend of off road racing.

Being there, in Baja, seeing in person the sights I’ve only seen on tv but wanted to experience, changed everything. It’s in me now.

And so we’re putting together a team slowly but with great support. And as crazy as you may think I am, my goal is to one day have a Team Courage truck entered in the Baja 1000. April 2010 we will attend the Mexican 1000 rally as a volunteer, an incredible opportunity to not only be back on the Baja course, but to meet some of the legends of off road racing and watch them do what they love most. We have been invited to attend the rally next year as a team, but it will take donations to have our vehicle ready by the next rally.

And why the sugar skull logo? The sugar skull is a symbol of the Day of the Dead. The sugar skull represents the sweetness of life and the sadness of those we’ve lost. The Day of the Dead is a day for celebrating the memory of those that have passed before us. I felt that holiday and symbol were both appropriate for our cause, because we always need to celebrate our lives as well as those that have lost the battle against breast cancer. The artwork has been generously donated by Christopher Swift, an amazing artist that has designed for the movie Avatar and other popular films.
